10 Reasons to Train Your Ass Off For London(,Ontario) 2012

For most of us, we are just about to start our Cross Country buildup leading into this season.
Here are 10 reasons to get our rest, wake up, and run.

10. London will be host to the 2013 FISU World Figure Skating Championships®. This event is much more exciting than any running-related FISU events (if you are into the skating outfits). It will also host the U19 World Ringette Championships. It's hard to say which event is more awesome.

9. A golfer's paradise (Brento). There are more than 70 courses in London and the surrounding areas. Talk about relaxation before a big race.

8. London has dubbed itself the "Forest City," so it is pretty much guaranteed to be more exciting than any of the damn prairie provinces we race in.

7. Home to the Fanshawe Pioneer Village, London can send you back through time to anywhere from 1820-1920.  Patrick, check out http://www.fanshawepioneervillage.ca/about for some unique fashion ideas.

6. London is on the the Canadian National Railway line. You could be a drunken mess following the after-party and end up in destinations like Toronto or Chicago. CHICAGO. Anyone for a Bulls game?

5. You will likely be faster than most of the 366,000 people that live there, and hauling ass is a good way to get yourself out of a jam. Unless the jam takes place in the hotel, in that case you are screwed.

4. The record high temperature for November is 24.4 degrees Celsius.

3. London is home to the UWO Mustangs. Man, I love those guys.

2. It only costs $7.50 to get into the Storybook Gardens in London. You don't wanna know how crazy this place is.

1. Toeing the line with 6 of your teammates, all of whom you know are ready to run themselves to death for you. It is a great moment when you know you have put in all the work you could up until that point, and you are ready to roll over your competitors as you run for each other.
